摘要: Previous work found a small but significant relationship between holistic processing measured with the composite task and face recognition ability by Cambridge Face Memory Test (CFMT; Duchaine & Nakayama, 2006). Surprisingly, recent using different measure of (Vanderbilt Holistic Processing [VHPT-F]; Richler, Floyd, Gauthier, 2014) larger sample no evidence for such relationship. In Experiment 1 we replicate this unexpected result, finding (VHPT-F) (CFMT). A key difference VHPT-F other measures is that unique parts are used on each trial in VHPT-F, unlike tasks where set repeat across experiment. 2, test hypothesis correlations CFMT driven stimulus repetition allows learning during task. Consistent our predictions, performance was correlated when repeated over trials, not did repeat. meta-analysis confirms relationships depend repetition. These results raise important questions about what being CFMT, challenge current assumptions why faces processed holistically.
