History of Neoclassical Consumer Theory: A Neo-Kantian Epistemological Perspective

摘要: This paper deals with the history of neoclassical consumer theory from 1871 to 1971, and Neo-Kantian knowledge Marburg School, a philosophical movement whose main exponents were H. Cohen, P. Natorp E. Cassirer. The strictly historical investigation focuses on two aspects somehow neglected in previous literature: acceptance general utility function place original additive function, comparison between behavioral utilitarian formulation theory. In restating these aspects, I propose show usefulness School’s epistemology understanding and, more generally, principles that rule process knowing economics. also suggest provides foundation cognitive logic
