摘要: Electroaddressing of biological components at specific device addresses is attractive because it enlists the capabilities electronics to provide spatiotemporally controlled electrical signals. Here, electrodeposition calcium alginate hydrogels electrode reported. The method employs low pH generated anode locally solubilize ions from insoluble carbonate. solubilized Ca 2+ can then bind induce this polysaccharide undergo a localized sol-gel transition. Calcium gel formation shown be spatially in normal and lateral dimensions. deposition sufficiently benign that used entrap bacteria E. coli. entrapped cells are able grow respond chemical inducers their environment. Also, liberated network by adding sodium citrate compete with for binding. illustrated entrapping reporter recognize quorum sensing autoinducer 2 (Al-2) signaling molecule. These were observed Al-2 an external bacterial population. Thus, provides programmable controllable assembly cell populations cell-based biosensing studying cell-cell signaling.
