摘要: Polyomaviruses, as their name indicates, are viruses capable of inducing a variety tumors in vivo. Members this family, including the human JC and BK (JCV, BKV), better characterized mouse polyomavirus simian virus 40 (SV40), small DNA that commandeer cell's molecular machinery to reproduce themselves. Studies these virus-host interactions have greatly enhanced our understanding wide range phenomena from cellular processes (e.g., replication transcription) viral oncogenesis. The current chapter will focus upon five known JCV early proteins contributions each makes oncogenic process (transformation) when expressed cultured cells. Where appropriate, gaps protein function be supplanted with information obtained study SV40 BKV.
