摘要: Contusive spinal cord injury (SCI) can result in necrosis of the cord, but often long white matter tracts outside central necrotic core are demyelinated. One experimental strategy to improve functional outcome following SCI is transplant myelin-forming cells remyelinate these axons and conduction. This review focuses on transplantation studies using olfactory ensheathing cell (OEC) models demyelination. The biology OEC, recent research clinical OECs as a potential therapy candidate discussed.
