摘要: Recent developments in biology seems to indicate that the Fluid Mosaic model of membrane proposed by Singer and Nicolson, with lipid bilayer functioning only as medium support protein machinery, may be too simple realistic. Many functions are now known depend on composition membrane. Experiments biomembranes eukaryotic cells laterally organized into small nanoscopic domains. This inplane organization is expected play an important role a variety physiological such signaling, recruitment specific proteins endocytosis. However, mainly because their complexity, precise in-plane lipids stability biological membranes remain difficult elucidate. has reiterated importance understanding equilibrium phase behavior kinetics fluid multicomponent membranes. Current increase interest domain formation also stems from experiments demonstrating liquid ordered-liquid disordered coexistence mixtures cholesterol success several computational models predicting behavior. review includes basic foundations systems experimental approaches applied research area, stressing recent advances techniques.
