摘要: In this paper, we introduce the concept of ‘originality a species within set’ in order to indicate average rarity all features belonging species. Using phylogenetic tree 70 New World terrestrial Carnivora, suggest measuring originality by probability distribution. This maximizes expected number shared two randomly drawn from set. By using new index, take account branch lengths whereas current indices focus on topology. As supplement Nee and May's optimizing algorithm, find that must be one criteria used conservation planning.
