Childhood Sexual Abuse in Incarcerated Females: Complex Trauma Symptomotology and the Personality Assessment Inventory

摘要: There is a dearth of literature examining how childhood sexual abuse (CSA) influences the Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI; Morey, 1991) profiles incarcerated women. This study examines relationship between CSA, substance abuse, and Complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) symptomatology on PAI in an female sample. It was hypothesized that women with CSA would have higher overall levels psychopathology as well symptoms consistent CPTSD dependence compared to without histories CSA. A sample 78 who had been administered upon intake were recruited from northwestern multi-custody state prison. Women (n = 42) (n= 36) various mental health characteristics. group found psychopathology, associated CPTSD, increased prevalence PTSD symptoms. also reported greater severity drug use more frequent cannabis, stimulants, heroin. medium, positive correlation symptom severity. significantly rates care utilization prior prison addition Further, initiated at younger age maternal during their childhood.
