摘要: The resistance of coarse-grained alumina to stable crack growth, initiated from “naturally’occurring surface flaws, was studied in strength tests with a bend-bar technique. cracks experienced R-curve behavior over the first few hundred micrometers; i.e., applied driving force had be increased extension. Compared R curves generated long standard single-edge-notched-bend specimens, surface-crack have lower initial values. possible influence localized residual stresses, counteracting force, is discussed.
