摘要: We studied a collection of 746 chromosome rearrangements all induced by the activity members P family transposable elements in Drosophila melanogaster. The chromosomes ranged from simple inversions to complex rearrangements. distribution rearrangement classes was kind expected if each came about single multibreak event followed random rejoining segments, as opposed series two-break events. Most breakpoints occurred at or very near (within few hundred nucleotide pairs) sites preexisting elements, but these were often lost during event. There also cases apparent gain elements. In which both an inversion retained that capable reverting high frequencies original sequence something close it. This reversion with sufficient precision restore function gene, held-up-b, had been mutated breakpoint. However, some reversions acquired irregularities former detectable either standard cytology molecular methods. revertants themselves ability undergo further depending on presence interpret results rule out simplest hypotheses formation involve cointegrate structures homologous recombination. data provide general picture process and its possible relationship transposition.
