Examining the implementation of the Healthy Kids Community Challenge: A thematic analysis of the Local Steering Committee Survey (2018)

摘要: Introduction: The Healthy Kids Community Challenge (HKCC) was a community-based, multi-stakeholder obesity prevention program aimed at children and youth in Ontario, which funded coordinated by the Ministry of Health Long-term Care from 2015-2018. This project contributed to process evaluation HKCC, is being carried out Public Ontario. objective my research identify understand barriers facilitators implementation perspective members Local Steering Committees (LSCs), who were directly involved implementation. Methods: 10 questions 2018 LSC Survey coded thematically analyzed, using NVivo 11.0 software, according themes presented within Durlak Dupre’s Ecological Framework for Effective Implementation. Themes summarized barriers, challenges, factors associated with implementation, strategies communities used engage partners reach vulnerable populations, as well positive experiences. findings report featured rich, qualitative account, accompanied direct quotations code frequency charts. Results: A number perceived identified, including structure (i.e., tight timelines, short duration), low SES related lack time, transportation access childcare, difficulty accessing HKCC information) geography programming). Some important included: funding, partnerships, messaging, an inclusive, accessible approach planning events. Participants expressed interest sustaining programs partnerships beyond funding period, although loss provincial identified challenge. also noted potential sustainability, particularly increased cross-sectoral collaboration capacity community-based health promotion. Implications: results could be improve future promotion programs. They might offer insight into how tailor large-scale local contexts.
