摘要: A detailed hydrogen ion budget has been constructed for the Marcell bog in north-central Minnesota based on a 5-year, intensive study of element cycles. Major features acidity balance this site include following: (1) production organic acids (263 meg.m−2.y−1) is dominant source and serves to buffer water at pH 4; (2) seguestering elements peat also significant (42.9 meg.m−2.y−1); (3) weathering dustfall inputs an important alkalinity (<76 which situated near major agricultural area plains; (4) nitrate sulphate reduction contribute little (<39.2 because (NO3 SO4) are low. Analysis surface from bogs across northeastern North America (Manitoba Newfoundland) reveals region varies between 104 263 meg.m−2.y−1; acidity-generation associated with net biological uptake (NBU, excluding nitrogen = 20–117 proportion rate accumulation; NBU-acidity exhibits high values maritime lower mid-continental bogs; have large capacity reduction, becomes increasingly as rates deposition increase. From 60 93% annual loadings retained reduced sulphur eastern America.
