摘要: Recent analysis of a large faunal assemblage from Roman roadside settlement at Ware, Hertfordshire has indicated potentially strong links between the nature animal exploitation on site and its location Ermine Street. Animal husbandry was focused production cattle sheep, both which had experienced stock ‘improvement’ by late period. Relatively high proportions horse, presence young horses, suggest importance this potential for local breeding; could have acted as station changing or selling horses. The marine fish black rat also indicate clear to wider trade network.
