摘要: Ocean acidification and disease: How will a changing climate impact Vibrio tubiashii growth pathogenicity to Pacific oyster larvae? Elene Marie Dorfmeier Chair of Supervisory Committee: Carolyn S. Friedman, Associate Professor School Aquatic Fishery Sciences (Vt) is causative agent vibriosis in molluscan bivalves. Recent re-emergence economically valuable shellfish, such as the (Crassostrea gigas) Washington State, has increased urgency understand ecology this pathogen. It currently unknown how predicted environmental changes associated with ocean acidification, elevated surface seawater temperature, partial pressure CO2 (pCO2), Vt abundance, marine organismal health disease susceptibility. This study investigates cues influence physiological Vt. Using laboratory experiments manipulate temperature pCO2, we examined these factors influenced pathogen growth. Larval susceptibility was determined by exposing C. gigas larvae combination pCO2 concentrations. These provide insight into parameters that may drive or proliferation bacterium. Investigation single multivariate levels help assess shifts conditions can shellfish survival resistance.
