摘要: Pain in herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia is classically ascribed to irritable, inflammation-sensitized nociceptors the cutaneous rash spinal cord deafferentation. After considering weaknesses evidence base underlying this view an alternative explanation offered, based on hyperexcitability at ectopic pacemaker sites affected primary sensory neurons, central sensitization induced maintained by activity.
