摘要: Forest restoration have had limited success due to intense and prolonged droughts in Mediterranean-type ecosystems. In this context, knowledge of growth physiology seedlings different provenances can be useful the selection appropriate seed sources for restoration. study we investigated variations survival, growth, leaf-level five Quillaja saponaria Mol. Cryptocarya alba originated from coastal Pre Andean sites exhibiting latitudinal-related climate differences central Chile. Seedlings were grown a nursery on 600 mL pots 18 months then planted dryland site severely damaged by fire. One year after establishment, measured physiology. We also analyzed relationship between outplanting survival with seedling characteristics prior planting, physiological traits variables. Growth similar among Q. C. alba, exception differing heights observed within provenance saponaria. Initial root collar diameter was positively correlated survival. With photosynthesis saponaria, all both species differed traits. Those originating interior exhibited lower stomatal conductance used water more efficiently. The opposite true coming sites. climates that been damage severe fire, selections based larger seedlings, especially pre-Andean provenances, will likely improve success.
