Umbilical cord remnant infections in foals: 16 cases (1975-1985).

摘要: Infection of the umbilical cord remnants was diagnosed in 16 foals. The infection found urachus alone 3 foals, arteries 2 and vein urachus, vein, specific location not determined 4 Eleven foals developed an acquired patent between days age. Seven had one or more joints infected. All with remnant infections were treated orally, intramuscularly, intravenously administered antibiotics 9 excised. Nine survived, 6 which excision infected remnants. Only joint survived.
