摘要: The role of phloem anastomoses in translocation was studied experimentally intact and wounded internodes ofDahlia pinnata Cav. Translocation visualized with fluorescein, a fluorescent dye capable movement the phloem. analyzed large areas living tissue which were peeled from xylem at cambium region. Under normal conditions, fluorescein observed sieve tubes longitudinal strands but very rarely anastomoses. However, when few severed, translocated through located around wound within 24 h. It is suggested that mature serve mainly as an emergency system enable fast response to damage by providing alternative pathways for assimilates stem. A possible regulatory mechanism based on differences resistance flow versus lateral discussed.
