Vertical banded gastroplasty: Is it a durable operation for morbid obesity?

摘要: Background: Long-term follow-up is important in the evaluation of results bariatric operations. The authors followed vertical banded gastroplasty (VBG) an ongoing database. Methods: From 1986 to 1999, 123 VBGs were performed one surgical ward. series comprises 105 females and 18 males, with mean age 37 years preoperative BMI 48.39 kg/m2. evaluated long-term (patients followed, patients who underwent revisional surgery, success rate complications), analyzed 2000 again 2002. Results: With time, percentage decreased from 65 53%, success-rate 46.16 32.79%, surgery for inadequate weight loss or complications increased 9.61 29.51% only 2 years. Conclusion: VBG was frequently not maintained long-term. However, we have previously found improvements comorbidities.
