摘要: The structure of the Drosophila melanogaster Antennapedia (Antp) gene has been investigated by isolation and sequencing different cDNAs genomic clones. Northern analysis, S1 mapping primer extension experiments reveal a complex unusual structure. is composed two promoters, eight exons spanning >100 kb, termination processing regions. Four major polyadenylated transcripts were found, them starting at second internal promoter in front exon 3. All four have extremely long untranslated leader trailer sequences range 1-2 kb. Despite transcriptional organization, open reading frame same all transcripts, starts 5 giving rise to protein mol. wt. 42 800. putative rich glutamine (18%) proline (10%). homeobox, region which previously shown be highly conserved among homeotic genes, contained located last exon. Functional implications with respect development its relation mutant phenotypes are discussed.
