摘要: Abstract Sulfur isotopic composition (δ34S) of dissolved SO 4 2 - was measured in waters rivers draining the Deccan Trap basalts order to elucidate source(s) elevated content some these rivers, observed an earlier study. The δ34S values range from 8.7‰ 19.5‰, with average 14.5 ± 2.8‰, generally enriched 34S compared data available other Indian rivers. Bhima River (a tributary Krishna) and most its tributaries have within 14 ± 2‰ high concentrations (256–1556 μM). Measured 7 saline/alkaline soils suggest that river system is likely derived this source and/or gypsum concretions soils. δ34S–SO4 relationship for Krishna smaller follows a mixing pattern two end-members, rainwater low unknown, pollution, intermediate heavy δ34S. important finding study brings out minimal role weathering basalt-sulfides play contributing This rules H2SO4-, supports H2CO3-mediated as dominant process settings.
