摘要: Latreille (1825) subdivided the legs of Insecta sensu Linnaeus into four parts, first which should be a ball and socket joint. This feature caused to rename Insecta, calling them Condylopes. Bur-meister (1832) changed terminology: ’rotule’ was termed an acetabulum, ‘trochanter’, coxa. Siebold (1848) referred parts leg as podomeres. He discarded name Condylopes, its analogy with Vertebrata, created Arthropoda, but retained old terminology for leg. Like Burmeister, he called free podomere, Michael (1884) described ball-and-socket joint in oribatid mites, sought coxa did not refer trochanter.
