摘要: Fundamental to the concept of idiopathic or primary headache, including migraine, tension-type headache and cluster is currently accepted view that these conditions are due abnormal brain function with completely normal structure1. Cluster one such many similarities structure on magnetic resonance imaging in hypothalamic grey matter by positron emission tomography2. Given consistency tomography findings clinical presentation, we sought assess whether brains patients were structurally normal. We used voxel-based morphometry, an objective automated method analyzing changes structure, study headache. found a co-localization structural local activity same area patients. The results indicate current neurobiology requires complete revision this periodic associated hitherto unrecognized abnormality region. believe morphometry has potential change most fundamental way our disorders, requiring radical reappraisal tenet normality.
