摘要: Programmed cell death (apoptosis) is an important mechanism that determines the size and shape of vertebrate nervous system. Recent gene-targeting studies have indicated homologs cell-death pathway in nematode Caenorhabditis elegans analogous functions apoptosis developing mammalian brain. However, epistatic genetic analysis has revealed progenitor cells during early embryonic development postmitotic neurons at later stage brain distinct roles mechanisms. These results provide new insight on significance neural development.
