摘要: Nowotny, Alois (City of Hope Medical Center, Duarte, Calif.). Relation structure to function in bacterial O antigens. II. Fractionation lipids present Boivin-type endotoxin Serratia marcescens. J. Bacteriol. 85:427–435, 1963.—Methods for liberation from their endotoxic antigen were investigated. In the case isolated a chromogenic marcescens, best results obtained with diluted formic acid. The crude lipid mixture consisted at least 16 different components, which analyzed by paper chromatography. Good separation was achieved silicic acid-impregnated paper. Lipids stained metachromatic o-toluidine blue. Solubility studied organic solvents. Preparative fractionation developed utilizing various solvents on basis solubility differences components. Pure fractions acid column Since none methods so far can produce undegraded free split products and remnants cell-wall polysaccharides, usefulness is limited comparing chemical liberated that intact cell wall. procedures cause changes within itself, turn would alter whatever potential ability it might have elicit certain biological reactions.
