摘要: As human populations and the resources required to support societies continue grow, an increasing number of plant animal species around world are facing extinction. Given limited time, space, money, how do we decide which management actions will be most effective avert extinctions? In this book, many world's leading conservation population biologists evaluate what has become a key tool in estimating extinction risk evaluating potential recovery strategies - viability analysis, or PVA. PVA integrates data on life history, demography, genetics with information environmental variability, using computer models ranging from simple measures growth rate complex spatial simulations, predict whether given remain viable (i.e., not go extinct) under various options. A synthetic objective overview latest theoretical methodological advances, Population Viability Analysis crucial reading for conservationists, land managers, policy makers.
