摘要: Glycerol administered orally in amounts of 25 to 50 gm four times daily place isocaloric dextrose during partial insulin withdrawal ketosis-prone diabetic patients decreased the concentrations ketone bodies blood and alveolar air within normal limits all patients. The glycosuria these additional three who failed develop ketosis after by an average 85 gm/day when glycerol was substituted isocalorically for dextrose. This suggested that is a carbohydrate which can be metabolized without requiring insulin. No consistent effect on fasting total serum lipids, free fatty acids (FFA), hyper-pre-beta-lipoproteinemia demonstrable under conditions experiment. disappearance serum-pre-beta-lipoproteins several days high-carbohydrate, hypo-caloric diet one patient sustained administration.
