Dynamical beam manipulation based on 2-bit digitally-controlled coding metasurface

摘要: Recently, a concept of digital metamaterials has been proposed to manipulate field distribution through proper spatial mixtures metamaterial bits. Here, we present design 2-bit digitally-controlled coding metasurface that can effectively modulate the scattered electromagnetic wave and realize different far-field beams. Each meta-atom this integrates two pin diodes, by tuning their operating states, four phase responses 0, π/2, π, 3π/2, corresponding basic elements "00", "01", "10", "11", respectively. By designing sequence above element array, reflected beam be arbitrarily controlled. The demonstrated possess capability achieving deflection, multi-beam diffusion, dynamical switching these scattering patterns is completed programmable electric source.
