摘要: Synopsis: Verapamil is a novel antiarrhythmic and antianginal agent which, although introduced in 1962, has only recently gained prominence not as significant cardiovascular therapeutics but also powerful tool to examine the nature of some biophysical phenomena at membrane cardiac other excitable tissues. prototype those agents which selectively inhibit transport calcium, an action accounts for drug’s peripheral coronary vasodilator properties, its effect on excitation-contraction coupling hence negative inotropic propensity, well depressant effects sinus node atrioventricular conduction. Its pharmacological are largely independent autonomic nervous system. The main therapeutic uses drug management atrial tachyarrhythmias, angina, possibly hypertension. overall experimental clinical data suggest that verapamil will become important safe addition existing regimens, especially choice short-term treatment most cases paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardias. initial experience arrhythmias, angina hypertension, sufficiently encouraging justify further detailed trials define potential role therapeutics.
