摘要: Background: Sacral nerve stimulation (SNS) has emerged as a promising technique for the treatment of faecal incontinence. This study assessed outcome SNS in cohort patients with incontinence neurological aetiology. Methods: Thirty-six were included trial SNS. Twenty-nine subsequently had permanent implant. Evaluation consisted continence diary, anal manometry, saline retention testing and quality life assessment. Results: After median follow-up 35 (range 3–71) months, 28 showed marked improvement or complete recovery continence. Incontinence to solid liquid stool decreased from 7 4–15) 2 0–5) episodes 21 days (P = 0·002). Saline time increased 2–15) min Maximum resting squeeze canal pressures compared preoperative values. Quality on all scales among who received implant at 12 24 months after operation. Conclusion: SNS is value selected neurogenic Copyright © 2007 British Journal Surgery Society Ltd.
