A double-blind study comparing the efficacy and tolerability of mirtazapine and doxepin in patients with major depression

摘要: Abstract One hundred and sixty-three patients with major depression were randomly assigned to treatment mirtazapine or doxepin for 6 weeks in a double-blind clinical trial. Initially, received 20 mg/day 75 mg/day, dosages then titrated up maximum of 60 300 respectively. Both drugs produced considerable improvement depressive symptoms no statistically significant differences between the two patient groups. In group only prematurely terminated study due adverse drug experiences, as compared six doxepin-treated group. Moreover, complained more frequently dry mouth movement disorders. conclusion, is an effective appears offer advantages tolerability over doxepin.
