摘要: This paper builds upon an earlier conference publication by the authors, offering contributions based on a systematic literature review and qualitative study. The begins drawing attention to paucity of “citizen”—more appropriately, “situated”—perspectives what smart city should could be. then addresses that absence detailing research project explored how people in London, Manchester, Glasgow responded concept. Participants were asked questions regarding their prior familiarity with phrase “smart city”, thoughts relating it means for be smart, “true” might mean them. analyses offers synthesis responses collected throughout dominant rhetoric about cities, as identified through recent review, thereby providing critical assessment values underlying city. It aims explore present some expectations citizens hold cities’ politicians, policy makers, planners, academics, technology companies. We believe these perspectives from can used inform responsible development, spatially socially inclusive technologies, ultimately more resilient cities.
