Antioxidant protection against curative and palliative doses of ionizing irradiation in human blood decreases with aging.

摘要: Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are independently recognized to play a significant role in radiation-induced damage on healthy tissue and aging process. However, an age-related alteration of antioxidant (AO) system radiation response humans is poorly investigated. The aim this paper was evaluate the irradiation effects activities expression AO blood women during aging. Blood samples were irradiated with curative palliative doses 2 Gy or 9 Gy γ-rays. capacity for detoxification O2•− H2O2 γ-irradiation decreases above 58 years, while shows signs weakening after 45 years age. Due reduction aging, cytotoxic irradiation, mediated by ROS, may significantly increase older subjects, removal excess could reduce them.
