摘要: Abstract Genetic hybrids of the genus Xiphophorus have historically been useful models for study genetic aspects tumor formation. In most studied model, two-gene loci, XMRK and DIFF , are implicated as critical both to UV-induced spontaneous melanoma formation in BC 1 crosses between X. maculatus helleri with recurrent backcross parent. addition UV, direct-acting carcinogen N -methyl- -nitrosourea (MNU) has used induce tumors from several cross types. present study, we address hypothesis that excess melanomas MNU-treated may generated by direct mutation CDKN2AB a candidate gene . MNU treatment F hybrid fish significantly increased incidence at 6 months; however, no association was found MNU-induced zygosity tumor-suppressor hybrids, consistent previously reported results. Sequence analysis locus heterozygous individuals (both hybrids) did not reveal any mutations caused MNU, suggesting mechanism this model does involve but result other genes.
