摘要: Objective: To verify the influence of pharyngeal flap surgery on management velopharyngeal insufficiency nasality and speech nasalance nasal sound production in individuals with cleft lip palate. Methods: Prospective study 159 repaired palate±lip, both genders, aged 6 to 57 years old. All participants presented residual were submitted surgery. Perceptual evaluation nasometric assessment performed before after (14 months average) Hyponasality was rated as absent or present, scores determined by means nasometer using stimuli, a cutoff score 43% used lowest limit normality. Nasality compared (p<0.05). Results: On basis correlation between methods used, perceptual hyponasality observed 14% individuals, whereas indicating (<43%) obtained 25% patients Conclusion: Pharyngeal influenced sounds, causing significant proportion individuals. The presence this symptom can also be an indicator upper airway obstruction caused flap, which should investigated objectively prudently postoperatively.
