摘要: In this paper I purport to explain how and why electoral corruption was abolished in the case of Sweden, drawing on original data from second-instance election petitions filed 1719-1909. These reveal fraudulent practices history most notably systematic procedural violations committed by local administrators towards end Age Liberty 18th century. By mid 19th century, however, Swedish elections had large been purged fraud, instead concerned unclear regulations pertaining suffrage eligibility criteria. argue that development cannot be explained changes rules, such as secret ballot, or shifts economic inequality. Instead, ebb flow fraud Sweden could best understood stemming combination two factors: partisanship administrative corruption.
