摘要: My journey into the physics of living systems began with most fundamental organisms on Earth, bacteria, that three decades ago were perceived as solitary, primitive creatures limited capabilities. A decade later this notion had faded away and bacteria came to be recognized smart beasts they are, engaging in intricate social life through a sophisticated chemical language. Acting jointly, these tiny can sense environment, process information, solve problems make decisions so thrive harsh environments. The bacterial power cooperation manifests their ability develop large colonies astonishing complexity. number colony amount many billions, yet exchange 'chemical tweets' reach each every one them all know what they're doing, cell being both actor spectator Game Life. I share my encounters learned about secrets wisdom crowd, why how, starting theoretical physicist, found myself studying intelligence bacteria. story ends guide cyber-war cancer.
