摘要: Objective To describe the burden of care experienced by our pediatric health facility in New York, from May 3, 2009, to July 31, during novel influenza A(H1N1) pandemic that began spring 2009. Design Retrospective case series. Setting Pediatric emergency departments and inpatient facilities York–Presbyterian Hospital. Patients Children presenting with influenza-like illness (ILI) children aged 18 years or younger hospitalized positive laboratory test results for A Main Outcome Measures Proportion ILI who were proportion respiratory failure, bacterial superinfection, mortality. Results When compared same period 2008, an excess 3750 visits (19.9% increase). Overall, 27.7% ILI; 2.5% patients hospitalized. Of 115 subjects confirmed (median age, 4.3 years), 93 (80.9%) had underlying conditions. Four (3.5%) identified 1 (0.9%) died, 35 (30.4%) admitted a intensive unit; these patients, 11 pneumonia required mechanical ventilation, including high-frequency oscillatory ventilation (n = 3). Conclusions At center, first wave 2009 A, 9.6% failure 0.9% died. These findings can be disease severity subsequent waves pandemic.
