摘要: Tungiasis is a zoonosis neglected by authorities, health professionals, and affected populations. Domestic, synanthropic, sylvatic animals serve as reservoirs for human infestation, dogs are usually considered main reservoir in endemic communities. To describe the seasonal variation persistence of tungiasis dogs, we performed quarterly surveys during period 2 years tourist village municipality Ilheus, Bahia State, known to be tungiasis. Prevalence ranged from 62.1% (43/66) August 2013 82.2% (37/45) November 2014, with no significant difference (p = 0.06). The prevalence infestation remained high, regardless rainfall patterns. Of 31 inspected at all surveys, was 94% (29/31; 95% CI 79.3-98.2%) indicator [PII] high (median PII = 6 q1 = 5, q3 = 7). Dogs < 1 year age had higher mean 84.5%, compared 69.3% older dogs. No found between risk or sex (p = 0.61). Our data indicate that canine persisted area periods year. described studies other areas not observed, most probably due different patterns throughout study has important implications planning integrated control measures both humans animal reservoirs, considering One Health approach.
