摘要: In Greece, chestnut forests ( Castanea sativa Mill.) occupy more than 30,000 ha of forest land. The species is one the most significant Balkans. It mainly cultivat ed for its high quality wood. Concerning cultivation and harvesting, monks in Mount Athos peninsula northern Greece practice a special empirical management method local coppice forests. Data collected from 9 sampling surfaces, comprising stands three different ages (10, 20 40 years old), were analyzed to study effect this particular on specific soil parameters. Results indicated that, there general trend increased organic matter nutrient concentrations 10 old comparison those age. Cultivation treatments cause intense alterations properties, leading severe degradation resources.
