Robotic thyroid surgery using a gasless, transaxillary approach and the da Vinci S system: the operative outcomes of 338 consecutive patients.

摘要: Background Recently, robotic technology in the surgical area has gained wide popularity. However, filed of head and neck surgery, applications instruments are problematic owing to spatial technical limitations. The authors performed robot-assisted endoscopic thyroid operations consecutive tumor patients using newly introduced da Vinci S system. Herein describe technique used its utility for operative management tumors. Methods From October 2007 November 2008, 338 underwent a gasless, transaxillary approach. All procedures were successfully completed without conversion an open procedure. Patient's clinicopathologic characteristics, operation types, times, learning curve, postoperative hospital stays complications evaluated. Results mean patient age was 40 years (range, 16–69) male female ratio 1:16.8. Two hundred thirty-four less than total 104 bilateral thyroidectomy. Ipsilateral central compartment node dissection conducted all malignant cases. Mean time 144.0 minutes 69–347) stay 3.3 days 2–7). No serious complication occurred; there 3 cases recurrent laryngeal nerve injury 1 Horner's syndrome. Conclusion Our surgery approach is feasible safe selected with benign or tumor.
