摘要: In this paper, performance of different pretreatment systems used in the seawater reverse osmosis desalination process is presented. The techniques analyzed included conventional media-filtration technique and non-conventional membrane filtration techniques. For techniques, two ultrafiltration one microfiltration pilot plants were experimental study. During experiments, silt density index (SDI) filtrate samples was regularly measured to quantify rejecting colloidal particles. Measurements other important parameters flux, transmembrane pressure, total suspended solids, silica, organic carbon, etc. According findings, quality produced by inferior highly inconsistent. SDI varied from 2.8 3.8 spikes as high 6.3 frequently observed. Membrane a better quality. consistently below 3.0, prerequisite for proper operation RO plant. ease processes also noted. Together with improved maintenance procedures such backwashing air scouring, complete flux pressure recoveries achievable minimal use chemicals during experiments.
