摘要: Abstract The effects of ethanol and starvation on ketone body production utilization were investigated. In the first experiment, adult C57BL/6J mice divided into four groups: (i) control (fed), (ii) (up to 31 h); (iii) (acute 5 g/kg i.p.); (iv) (ETOH) + starvation. Plasma (KB) concentrations in remained constant at approx. 0.37 mM. levels KBs starved began increase about 7 h rose a peak 2.5 mM 24 h, then fell 1.8 h. treated with ETOH rise soon after injection, reached 1.5 10 returned by 15 Although there was no difference elevated between two groups plus alone 7–10 level continued steadily 2.0 through former group. At post ETOH, either fed ad lib. or fasted had increased hepatic capacity synthesize acetoacetate (AcAc) from palmitate; this effect prolonged enhanced fasting for brain, rate AcAc oxidation twice that β-hydroxybutyrate (βOHB) glucose. Neither nor affected energy KB also utilized fatty acid synthesis stimulated injection. lipogenesis βOHB accounted less than 10% AcAc. Together these experiments demonstrate increases both plasma least led long before due an utilize found. results indicate could provide important source lipid precursors brain mice.
