摘要: Between the first Australian-wide aerial survey of kangaroos in 1980-82 and second 1984, indices relative abundance determined by same methods show that red declined 24% western eastern greys 35%. The declines are attributed mainly to drought half continent, partly offset increases half. We estimate numbers 1984 at 6.3 million (cf. 8.3 1980-82), 1.2 (1.8) 5.8 (9.0), a total 13 millions all three species compared with 19 1980-82. This is an overall drop about 30%. Because recent work suggests sightability both grey lower than for reds, estimates will be less real should, therefore, regarded as rather absolute estimates.
