摘要: Obesity has become a worldwide epidemic that is accompanied by rise in Type 2 diabetes mellitus. Management of obesity paramount to prevent the associated mortality and morbidity. Several randomized control trials show bariatric surgery an effective method for treatment remission short term. Long-term observational studies have further validated improvements weight as well cardiovascular events overall mortality. There improvement microvascular outcomes, particular retinopathy nephropathy promising results but are needed evaluate hard-end points neuropathy. Bariatric cost with being offset future benefits.
