摘要: Purpose—The objective was to examine if step rates ±5% or ±10% of a novice runner's preferred rate (SR) is sufficient enough shift runner’s foot strike pattern (FSP) (rear-foot, mid-foot, forefoot) and whether these SR changes produce in the submaximal oxygen consumption (VO2). Methods—Foot angle (FSA) recorded using sagittal plane video images VO2 measured for runners while running on treadmill at constant speed during increased decreased (±5% ±10%) conditions. Foot used predict index (SI) (predicted = [FSA – 27.4]/-0.39) quantify FSP each condition. Results—Predicted SI significantly different between -5% (p .014), -10% .001), +10% .007) There higher predicted measures conditions lower Oxygen =.000 p .003, respectively). Conclusion-Manipulations shifts cause small VO2. EFFECTS OF STEP RATE ON FOOT STRIKE PATTERN 3
