摘要: Racial and ethnic disparities in diabetes care have been well documented. While root causes explored for some minority groups, less is known about smaller immigrant populations such as Cambodians. In this study, we sought to explore the potential barriers Cambodian patients with diabetes. We conducted five focus groups three study groups: health providers, bilingual Khmer frontline staff, Focus findings revealed that certain cultural beliefs, low literacy, language strongly affect patients' understanding of self-management, clinicians' ability effectively Our supports previous literature also adds several new insights not previously described. recommend education providers on patient-centered, cross-cultural an emphasis needs Cambodians culturally appropriate patients.
