摘要: The aim was to retrospectively analyse the clinical–histopathological characteristics of patients with newly diagnosis differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) referred two Italian centres, one in Northern and other Southern Italy, between 2000 2013. 1081 were included subdivided into groups: group A (474 from Novara) B (607 Naples). came industrial area Novara, while Group areas around Vesuvius Campi Flegrei. groups comparable for iodine levels, body mass index, diagnostic timing clinical procedures. For all patients, demographic data collected. No difference found gender, whereas age at later (group 53.1 ± 15.16 years, 41.9 14.25 p < 0.001). In both groups, most frequent histotype papillary (PTC) prevalence follicular variant (p 0.0001) classical 0.0001). Aggressive histological features mainly seen (bilaterality 0.0001, multifocality 0.0001 capsular invasion Microcarcinomas more but mostly characterized by bilaterality 0.001) 0.04). tumour-associated thyroiditis showed a significant increase over years 0.05, Environmental factors could justify differences our study. These preliminary should stimulate need an Cancer Registry DTC order allow epidemiological characterization, allowing identification specific etiological improvement management disease.
