摘要: Traditional classification in the genus Capra is based mainly on horn morphology. However, previous investigations allozyme data are not consistent with this classification. We thus reexamined evolutionary history of by analyzing mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequence variation. collected bone samples from museums or dead animals found field. Thirty-four individuals were successfully sequenced for a portion mtDNA cytochrome b gene and control region (500 bp total). obtained star-like phylogeny supporting rapid radiation genus. In accordance traditional classification, support presence two clades Caucasus hypothesis domestication event Fertile Crescent. conflict morphology, we that C. aegagrus ibex polyphyletic species, propose new scenario immigration into Europe.
