摘要: Macroscopic mass and heat transport play a central role in crystal growth processes. Before “molecules proceed from position the fluid medium, just outside crystal-fluid interface, to their (relatively) permanent resting place surface” [5.1], i.e., before molecules are “attached” crystal, they must typically be transported over macroscopic distances towards interface. This can either fast or slow compared attachment kinetics. Then rate with which grows is limited by interfacial kinetics transport, respectively. Interfacial mechanisms subject of later chapters. In this chapter we concern ourselves part Emphasis put on fundamentals various modes, distinction interplay. The general concepts obtained will then applied more specialized configurations geometries chapters segregation, morphological stability, melts, vapors solutions.
